What This Tool Does
This interactive MIDI CC Cheatsheet displays all 128 standard MIDI Continuous Controller (CC) numbers in one place, along with:
- Name – The common label for each control
- Description – A brief explanation of what the controller does
- Range – The value span (always 0–127 for CC messages)
- MSB/LSB – For controllers that send two numbers instead of one, “MSB” is the main (coarse) value and “LSB” is the extra fine-tuning value that sits on top of it for smoother control.
- Notes – any special usage tips (e.g. pairing CC0 with CC32 for bank changes)
You can toggle “Advanced Info” to show or hide the Range/MSB/LSB/Notes columns, copy entire rows to your clipboard with one click of the number in the CC# column, and view the table in a mobile-friendly layout.
How to Use It
1) Toggle Advanced Info
- Click Show Advanced Info to reveal more information if you want it.
- Click again (now Hide Advanced Info) to collapse back to a simpler chart.
2) Copy a Row
- Click the CC number in any row. The full row’s data will be copied (tab-separated), and you’ll see “Copied!” briefly.
3) Desktop Browsing
- Scroll vertically to browse all 128 entries.
- Use your browser’s Find (Ctrl/Cmd+F) to jump straight to any CC number or name.
4) Mobile Browsing
- Each CC appears as its own “card” listing Label: Value pairs, so there’s no horizontal scrolling.
- Advanced fields remain hidden until you tap Show Advanced Info.
5) Use the Search Bar
- The search bar allows you to quickly find whatever it is that you’re looking for. Using the “Escape” key will bring you back to the top of the chart.
What It’s Used For
Controller Setup & Mapping: Quickly look up which CC number to assign for mod wheels, expression pedals, custom knobs, etc.
DAW Automation & Scripting: Paste CC definitions into MIDI scripts or macro templates when programming parameter automation.
Hardware & Software Troubleshooting: Diagnose unexpected MIDI data by matching incoming CC numbers to their intended function.
Learning & Reference: Ideal for students or engineers needing a compact, searchable reference for all MIDI CC assignments.
